Doja Cat Reimagines 'Scarlet' Album Cover After Chaver's 'Of Gloom' Juxtaposition
Doja Cat switches out her scarlet spider for two spiders with pearls on their back after contrast with Chaver’s ‘Of Gloom’
Just over a day after revealing the first one, which was remarkably identical to a cover for the band Chaver, Doja Cat unveiled a second cover for her album Scarlet. The new cover, which portrays two spiders with large pearls on their backs, was not addressed by Doja. (They're no longer even scarlet!) Although Dusty Ray, the original cover's creator, published the new cover with love on their Instagram Story, it's unclear if they were the ones who conceptualized it.
After deleting her Instagram post revealing the Scarlet cover, "Paint the Town Red" singer Doja Cat looked to have lost the game of spider chicken. Chaver's article is still there and has links to their record preorders on their Stories. The spider motif isn't entirely lost, either, since Doja Cat's Instagram profile picture shows a large arachnid. On Instagram, the itsy-bitsy album cover will be posted once again.
You looking at her? Look at her, look at her. I'm referring to Doja Cat's Scarlet album cover, which she presented last night. A red spider (okay, maybe more magenta) with a drip of blood above it is depicted in the uncomplicated artwork. And it appeared to some fans to be rather familiar. The similar spider-like image appeared on the cover of the German metal band Chaver's upcoming album, Of Gloom, a month earlier, along with their logo and a sample of the record. Dusty Ray, a Portland, Oregon, artist who Chaver claimed on Instagram designed all of their records, created both album covers. And to further confuse matters, both albums will be made available on September 22.
